“So they entered the tomb, and there on the right sat a young man clothed in a white robe. The women were startled, but the angel said, "Do not be so surprised. You are looking for Jesus, the Nazarene, who was crucified. He isn't here! He has been raised from the dead! Look, this is where they laid his body.”
Mark 16:5,6 - The New Living Translation
The sham of a trial and the execution of the itinerant preacher Jesus had been over for three days. All of Jesus’ disciples had disappeared, fearful and wondering if they would be next. They were in hiding. They did not believe that Jesus would in His words, “lay down my life and take it back up again.” This miracle was too much for them to believe even after spending a little over three years with Jesus, listening to His teaching and watching him perform miracle after miracle. Even John said in John 21:25,
“And there are also many other things which Jesus did, the which, if they should be written every one, I suppose that even the world itself could not contain the books that should be written. Amen.”
But yet, as many times as Jesus spoke of his death and resurrection, they still would not believe. But, after the resurrection, after the faithful women were dispatched by the Risen Lord to notify His disciples, and after they had SEEN him, they became different men. The went out to the world, making disciples, teaching them the things Jesus taught them, baptizing them in the name of the Father, the Son and the Holy Ghost. They were willing to lay down their lives because they knew, they had seen Jesus in his glorified body.
Directly after His resurrection, Jesus appeared to numerous witnesses. This is a list of those who saw the risen Christ.
